Evangelist In Season and Out of Season

The Evangelist Does Not Wait For “The Season”

2 Timothy 4:1-2 MKJV Therefore I solemnly witness before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who is going to judge the living and the dead according to His appearance and His kingdom, (2) preach the Word, be instant in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine.

The Lord is expecting His evangelist to be about His business in the harvest fields winning the souls to His Kingdom. Are we His Children actively doing this? Or do we wait for the opportune time to preach the Gospel, only when one give us a platform to do so? To understand this more clearly, let us look at the Word given from Apostle Paul to Timothy in 2 Tim 4:2.

Paul left Timothy no option with this charge “preach the Word”, and he follows up with “be instant in season and out of season”, therefore we do not have to wait for the season to do the work of the evangelist. The preaching of the Word does involve reproving, rebuking, exhorting with all long-suffering and doctrine, and do know that it must be done with His Love, because you desire to see the souls set free from the snares of the devil. There is not time to wait, and it is why I believe this commission to Timothy was given to be “instant” in and out of season. We do not wait for the season to preach, for even Jesus said to not say that in four months the harvest will be, but it is now!

John 4:35 MKJV Do you not say, It is yet four months, and the harvest comes? Behold, I say to you, Lift up your eyes and look on the fields, for they are white to harvest already.

Why is there not time to wait as an evangelist? Because there have been seducing spirits attempting to deceive a generation into being lukewarm and listening to watered down half truths of the Word. We have the platform in us by the work of the Holy Spirit to do this work now as an evangelist. The souls need to hear the truth before they hear the lies of the devil with his twisted doctrines. There simply is not time to wait.

2 Timothy 4:3-4 MKJV For a time will be when they will not endure sound doctrine, but they will heap up teachers to themselves according to their own lusts, tickling the ear. (4) And they will turn away their ears from the truth and will be turned to myths.

The evangelist does not shut up for the government, nor do they hold back the truth regardless of what man would attempt to do. Be not afraid of man, for that is a snare. Peter and John gave an example of their boldness by His Spirit, and they refused to be quiet regardless of what they were told to do. They made an “instant” season without needing permission from man, for they received their calling from God, and they could not help but to speak the things that they saw and heard.

Acts 4:18-20 MKJV And they called them and commanded them not to speak at all, nor to teach in the name of Jesus. (19) But Peter and John answered and said to them, Whether it is right before God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. (20) For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

If we are not being the evangelist in and out of season, then we are not fully being obedient to God’s Word. We can go forth and preach this Gospel Good News message and reach the souls now before the devil does with his lies of deception. There is also a great deliverance for those who have already been deceived, for once they hear the truth they will receive an enlightenment that can set them free from the deception. A lot of things are up to the individual because everyone has a free will choice, but don’t let that stop you from delivering the Word, because God is a covenant keeping God, and He will give them opportunity just like He did in the days of Noah.

Children of the LORD… Occupy till He comes!

2 Timothy 4:5 MKJV But you watch in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fully carry out your ministry.

Be blessed with His Almighty Love and Power,
