Merchandising The Beauty

Christians Merchandising The Beauty

I want you to know, that the Lord, by His grace has brought my wife and I through a lot of dying to our flesh. In the beginning of my walk with Christ when I returned as a prodigal in the year 2000, before Rhonda and I even met, I knew the calling of God on my life to preach and lead in worship, but there was a lot of flesh going on with it. I made certain pictures or poses of myself with the Christian rock music that I was doing, now I did not uncover my flesh, but the pictures did have the fashion appearance of the world. Looking back I realize they were made with the intent of hoping to be accepted, not only by the world but mostly by other Christians, to see me as “cool” and “confident”. WOW. Yea, that was ugly, and I am so thankful the Lord ripped it out of me, and as the Lord gives me the utterance I will share in more articles with detail of how all that ripping took place. We have learned through His grace given to us, that there is a needed balance in the way we dress to present a true image of Jesus Yeshua on and off the altar.

The word of warning shared here is not to sinners in the world who do not know Jesus, but rather to those who confess to have come out of the world and now know Christ, claiming to shine His light to a generation and especially other leaders, who should be living a holy and righteous example. Jesus did not change or alter His appearance to look like the world to win the world over. He simply did it with the Father’s Love, and He never would have compromised His walk of holiness to present his body in lustful poses, seductive clothing or dance moves just to get the attention of people, in hopes to win them to the Father. It doesn’t matter who calls their own self “Christian”, even if they are famous in the worlds eyes, if what they are doing draws attention to their body in immodest fashion then it is not Jesus.  God’s Word never changes, nor does His opinion of modesty change. Culture and fashion appearances do change, but we are called to be a “peculiar” generation, not a mixed up and diluted luke-warm generation that is mingling with the world’s fashion system.

Sadly, some Christian leaders today are seen posing in the typical modeling fashion style of pictures found on world magazine covers, revealing painted eyes and lips with that certain come hither stare, along with presenting their bodies in tight seductive clothing and a whole lot of flesh showing in their poses. When makeup and clothing draws attention to their self, then the crossing over of the line of holiness to worldliness has been crossed.

Holiness before the LORD is not straddling the fence, with one foot on the worlds side and one with God’s, it is a separation act that leaves no room for the world to question that our spiritual and physical walk is reserved for the pleasing of God and not man.

One can not proclaim to be true worship leaders, pastors, apostles, prophets and evangelists and follow that same evil spirit of lust and merchandising the beauty. It is a demonic lying and deceiving spirit that stems from the devils desire to cause the Church to be defiled by tolerating the work of jezebel. The spirit of jezebel can work through a man or woman. Control is the number one priority underneath this deceptive spirit, simply put… witchcraft.

This demonic spirit is filled with pride of flesh and it loves to merchandise it, or frankly put, prostituting the gift. See the first 3 chapters of Revelation of how Jesus deals with the Church to get ready for His catching away.

Do you know that lucifer(satan), fell because of his pride? What did he do? According to Scripture he became proud of his beauty showing it off, merchandising and trafficking it.

Ezekiel 28:17 MKJV Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you have spoiled your wisdom because of your brightness. I will cast you to the ground; I will put you before kings, that they may behold you.

Is it no wonder that satan has been trying to attack ministers to do the very same thing? The devil still wants the bright light and attention. In verse 18 it appears that he was trafficking or trading this beauty:

Ezekiel 28:18 MKJV By the host of your iniquities, by the iniquity of your trade(traffick), you have profaned your holy places; so I brought a fire from your midst; it shall devour you, and I will give you for ashes on the earth, before the eyes of all who see you.

Notice that God said lucifer profaned his own holy place, not God’s holy place, but his. Why? Because he was a temple of the Spirit of God, but was lifted up in the pride of his beauty, therefore cast out and destroyed for the profaning of it. From reading Ezekiel chapter 28 we know that lucifer was a worship leader, right there at the very throne of God ministering to him. Have you ever seen a woman or man trying to lead worship wearing the skin tight clothing, low cut tight tops and showing every curve they’ve got? They are getting their reward here on earth and following, because they are being used like a puppet of satan to merchandise their beauty to try to defile a generation.

It is no excuse to say that one can not find clothing that is modest enough today for the work of the Lord, if one asks the Lord for direction, then He will lead them to modest clothing.

This is a strong warning to anyone who claims to be a born again believer in Jesus, it is not just for worship leaders or pastors. Why? Because as born again believers we are already made as kings and priests in Him, therefore those in Him should be living in the manner of that calling.

Revelation 1:6 KJV And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Trusting in the beauty and merchandising it was not only a sin for lucifer, but it was also one for Jerusalem as well.

Ezekiel 16:14-15 MKJV And your name went out among the nations, because of your beauty; for it was perfect in My beauty, which I had put on you, says the Lord Jehovah. (15) But you trusted in your beauty, and played the harlot because of your name, and poured out your fornications on all who passed by; it was his.

There is more Scripture that clearly validates the fact that God has commanded His people to dress modestly, especially those in ministry leadership. I leave you with this verse that encourages all of us, that we are not even our own anymore, rather we are His Beloved Children who have been purchased.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 MKJV  (19)  Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in you, whom you have of God? And you are not your own,  (20)  for you are bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Be blessed with His wisdom and Love,

Pastor Gary & Rhonda Petzoldt
