Set Your Affection On Things Above Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:2 . This is one of the keys to our victory to walking in the Spirit and not in the flesh. The phrase ‘Set your affection on’ could be translated by saying ‘Exercise your mind on’. Psalm 1:2 also confirms where our thinking should be. Our thinking should be on meditating(pondering or murmuring to yourself) on the Word of Yah and His laws. It’s alright to talk to youself! When you exercise the mind upon the things of the LORD you do not leave room for anything of the world to slip in. Paul said in Romans 12:2 not to be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. One way to look at the word renewing in this verse is to ‘renovate’. Our minds get renovated by the Word of Yah when we meditate on His Word. Yep. It takes a committed action to make that happen. Do you know when you renovate something that it ends up being better than it was before? Glory! Another key note to be said of Romans 12:2 is that after your mind is renovated or renewed then you can prove what is that good, acceptable and perfect will of Yah is. One thing is for sure; you can’t depend upon your natural mind to guide you into all truth. It will have to be renewed by taking in His Word to begin to understand what His will is. When I first started walking with the LORD I found the still small voice inside of me (the Holy Spirit) was not agreeing with my own natural mind and its thinking. My mind was still needing renewed. In order to walk in the supernatural ways of the Holy Spirit we have to tell our brain and thinking to line up with what His Word says. It must be renewed in order to understand His perfect will. Thank the LORD we have His Holy Spirit inside of us to guide us. We should not lean to our understanding of something, we must lean to what the Holy Spirit is saying. I’ve found that as I ‘renew’ my mind in Christ and His Word that my mind lines up with what the Holy Spirit is saying. I hope I’m making this clear enough. We have been given the sound mind of Christ! Glory! Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us not to lean unto our own understanding, but acknowledge Him in all of our ways and our paths will be directed by Him! Walk by faith and not by sight! Glory! Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh! Glory! Hallelujah! You can do it! |
