My YAHWEH is Greater than you!

“My YAHWEH is greater than you!” - 1Sam 17:45

Fiery boldness and trust in the LORD is what David had when he looked the giant Goliath in the face and basically said, “My God is greater than you!”. David didn’t come to speak to this circumstance in his own power or authority, but rather spoke to this huge giant with the Word of the LORD. Whatever your giant is that tries to stand before you, remember you have the Greater One inside of you. Just like David, we too can look defeat in the face and speak boldly to it and command it to be gone and defeated by the Word of the LORD. We can say things like, “I’m more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus!” [Rom 8:37]. Get into the Word and find your ammunition to launch out against the circumstance and stand on it and don’t back away from it! God’s Word goes forth with purpose and will not return to Him void but it will accomplish that in what He pleases for it to do. [Isa 55:11] It’s the Word of the LORD that will always work against circumstantial giants and it must be the sword that we use when we launch out our stone against the giant.

One thing David did have before he faced this giant was time alone with God. As he was shepherding the sheep in the field he had time to meditate on the LORD and was full of faith in the LORD. Just as a reminder to you, our faith does not come by hard times! Faith comes only by the Word of the LORD and by hearing it. [Rom 10:17] But why then did David run from Saul’s threats to kill him when he was already anointed of God to be the king? He already had the promise that was given to him from the Word of the LORD through the prophet Samuel. So why did he run? Now it seems he was doing the opposite of faith and was operating in fear. But how could a man who faced the giant Goliath later on run from a man who was threatening to kill him? I wonder if it could of been because he got so busy in the battlefield after the promotion of defeating Goliath that he didn’t make as much time with the LORD as he did when he was alone shepherding the sheep in the pastures. This is just a thought and I’m not claiming this is the reason, but rather just speaking this out to make us realize something here. What I want you to realize is this, we must stay full of faith and find the time to be alone with God and meditate on His Word day and night. We can’t get so busy in the battlefield and not get refueled in the Word of the LORD. So when a circumstance arises against us that is contrary to what God has already promised us, then we are full of faith because we’ve taken time aside to meditate on His Word and it has become such a reality to us that we are ready to face the giant and say….”My God is greater than you!”

Just remember that the battle belongs to the Lord, its not your battle, but it belongs to the Lord and you need to operate in the victory that He has already won for you at the cross through His Son Jesus Christ! Don’t get caught up in a battlefield where the LORD has not called you to be and don’t be in a battle without His ammunition, the Word of the LORD! David inquired of the Lord by asking the LORD if he should go and overtake the company. [1Sam 30:8] He knew that if the LORD didn’t call him and go before him into the battlefield then he was not going to win the battle. This subject of inquiring of the LORD touches on another thought that I hope to share sometime soon. Stay strong in the Word and use that as your armor!
