Run The Race With Cheerful Endurance Have you ever thought of running a race with patience? The concept of running is being in a hurry but yet when in a race you must do it with patience. Every long distance marathon runner knows that if you don’t pace yourself in the race you’ll soon run out of energy before the end and you won’t win. The verses in Hebrews 12:1-2 gives the understanding of how our Father wants us to run. To have more insight to the kind of patience that is referred to here in the Word would be to say “cheerful endurance”. Every runner in a race knows there is a prize to be won. Although he might experience pains to press his body that far; yet he sees it as cheerful to endure those pains because of the prize at the end. Hebrews 12:2 clearly tells us why it is cheerful and where we should keep our focus. Our focus should be that of Jesus and no other. He is the Author and Finisher of our faith. That’s the kind of race we are talking about. Our faith operating in cheerful endurance unto the end. Jesus Himself endured the cross because of the joy that was set before Him. He set His face like flint and would not stand for the devil to be in his way. He kept His eye on the prize of salvation for you and me. The love of the Father is very powerful and motivational. When you are so in love with Jesus you will be able to endure your cross to win the race. If your eye is not on Jesus, then running the race will be more grievious than a cheerful endurance. It takes discipline to set aside time for His word and stay focused on the Author and Finisher of our faith. There is a reward in diligently seeking Him! Hebrews 11:6 Keep your head up, your eye on the prize and put a smile on your face because He is there cheering you on! The race can be won and it can be done by the grace of God and with cheerful endurance! |
