The Unity of the Faith

“The Unity Of The Faith” - Eph 4:13

What is so important about this unity of the faith that Paul being led by the Holy Spirit wrote it down? There are many things that need to take place in the body of Christ and most certainly will come to pass as He is faithful to complete the work that He has started in us until the day of redemption. One of the works that will be completed is the unity of the faith between the brethren of the Lord. We as the Church body must function in unity of the faith. Paul didn’t say to unify in doctrine, but to unify in the faith so that we wouldn’t be blown away with every wind of doctrine that is out there. If we back up to read Eph 4:11-12 then we begin to see that the five fold ministry gifts were given for the purpose of unifying the Church in the faith. What faith? The faith of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Lets dig deeper and look at how we are to begin to walk in this unity. When the children of God who operate in the five fold ministry gifts of the apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastors and teachers start speaking with the love of God and stop fighting about whether or not speaking in tongues is appropriate, or baptism is needful for salvation, or musical instruments in the church should be allowed or not, then we will begin to see the great move of God like we’ve never saw before in the history of the church. The church when it began started with unity between the brethren, as it is written in Acts 2:44. Nobody refused to share something with their brethren, they considered all they had was each others as well.

I believe it does not please our Father in Heaven for pastors to stand in the pulpit and speak ill of other churches, prophets, etc.,. Love works no ill to his neighbor. This is not building up and edifying the body of Christ, but rather causes division and is exact opposite of unifying in the faith. There is a time to call sin as it is… sin and there is also a time for open rebuke. All this must be done with the love of God. If it is done without the love of God it will fail and will cause the divisions. We each walk on a different level of knowing the Lord and we all continue to grow into His fullness of His nature. Do you know why Peter had seen so many miracles even of people being healed within his perimeter? He was operating in the love of God. Peter didn’t talk about himself, but preached the gospel of the kingdom. I believe we will experience days of Heaven on the earth in these last days and it is dependent upon our walk with the Lord… Deut 11:21-22. When you read that passage in Deuteronomy you will see that the days of Heaven on the earth is dependent upon our walk with the Lord.

There is no greater commandment than that of the love commandment. All the law of the prophets hang on the first two commandments. Prophecy isn’t a prophecy from the Lord if it’s not full of His love. Prophecy only edifies the body of Christ, it never divides, nor has any selfish ambition behind it. I’m talking about this love walk because it is so key to walking with the unity of faith between the brethren. Eph 4:16 says that all the parts of His body must work together for the purpose of edifying itself in love. If you are bad mouthing everybody in the body of Christ, then don’t expect your faith to work in the fullness that God intended for it to work. Faith works by love, not by how much you believe, not by how much you speak positive, though these are the ingredients of faith, the whole thing that makes it run is His love. Think of it this way. Its like having a car engine that has all the parts together to make a super running machine. However it can’t run and operate unless it has the fuel to supply the engine. What fuels our faith? Love.

Everyday we need to walk in perfect love. We need to measure up to His commandments and do them. Lets unify in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ and what He done for us at the cross and work together until we come into His fullness of what He has for us.
