Should Christians Do Yoga?

The LORD would not allow His people to even covet or bring into their house the silver or gold from the graven images of idols and gods. Because it was an abomination to Him. If they did bring it to their home it would be a curse to them and destruction would come. (Deut 7:25-26)

So why does a Christian think it is acceptable to do yoga in their house or to learn or teach the ways of an exercise with specific movements and stretches that were designed to worship another god or idol? The belief that is at the core root of the exercises and stretches of yoga is that when one is able to do them they will become closer to their god. The definition of the word yoga is “to yoke” or “yoking together”.  That alone from the meaning of the word shows its purpose is to connect one with another god through their exercises. It is clearly Hindu idol worship. God said to His people to not learn the ways of the nations. (Deut 18:9) Each movement was specifically designed to pronounce worship to another god. Today yoga simply is not righteous and still is an abomination to the LORD and it will be well with you to rid your house of anything that has roots to wickedness and have nothing to do with it.  For the LORD our God is a Jealous God. Are we stronger than He? (Deut 6:14-16 & 1Corinthians 10:19-22)

This wickedness tempts the LORD. Do not think that just because we are under the grace of Jesus Yeshua that it exempts us from obedience. If God was this Jealous then over His people serving and learning other ways of idol worship then He most certainly is now too. He changes not. (Malachi 3:6)

If you have been deceived by others who say that yoga is alright for Christians to participate in then I exhort you to remember the commandments of the LORD God and do them. Keep His covenant. He keeps His to you. A covenant takes two. He loves you greatly and is Jealous after His children. (Psalm 103:17-18) If we are not doing His Word then we are deceiving our own self. (James 1:22)

I want to leave you with a link to the testimony of Laurette Willis who formerly did yoga and the new age movement for 22 years before coming to Christ, and now has an exercise that she calls PraiseMoves.

Take note of how she says she got sucked into it…..

Laurette first got involved in yoga as a little girl. Her mother used to give free yoga classes to the college students, and Laurette was the demonstration model.

Did you see that!?! Parents for the sake of your children and yourself please stay away from this yoga! It is the command of the LORD for us to teach our children the ways of Him and remind them why we do it. Be warned today by His Word and His Love that there is no such thing as Christian yoga and it is dangerous ground for a believer to be involved with. It is an abomination to the LORD.

Deuteronomy 6:5-9 ISV You are to love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. (6) “Let these words that I’m commanding you today be always on your heart. (7) Teach them repeatedly to your children. Talk about them while sitting in your house or walking on the road, and as you lie down or get up. (8) Tie them as reminders on your forearm, bind them on your forehead, (9) and write them on the door frames of your house and on your gates.”

Jesus Yeshua is calling for your heart today……

Pastors & Psalmist Gary and Rhonda Petzoldt

Deut 6:14-16 Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which [are] round about you;
15 (For the LORD thy God [is] a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
16 Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted [him] in Massah.

Deut 7:25-26 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold [that is] on them, nor take [it] unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it [is] an abomination to the LORD thy God.
26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: [but] thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it [is] a cursed thing.

Deuteronomy 18:9 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.

Psalm 103:17-18 But the mercy of the LORD [is] from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children;
18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.

1 Corinthians 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

1 Corinthians 10:19-22 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
20 But I [say], that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.
22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than He?

    Thank you so much for posting! I pray many see this! I have known Christian churches that allow this as a curriculum in their church? I am appalled and angry at the deception our pastors are under. For the sake of congregants many a pastor will be deceived even the best of them! Oh father God help your truth to spread like wildfire upon this land! Thank you for servants like Rhonda and Gary to write, sing and teach your beloved truth of your kingdom! I bless you Gary and Rhonda for your hearts of love. I bless you with continued courage, I bless you with His love and His mercy to continue doing His work! Oh I bless you for the song of truth that you sing, I praise Yeshua for you always! Thank you!
