1Co 14:1-2 KJV
(1) Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
(2) For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the Spirit he speaketh mysteries.
There has been such a division in the Church over praying in tongues from some claiming its of the devil (which its not), to those saying you are not saved unless you have this gift (which is far from the truth). First, it is of the LORD as it is a gift of the Holy Spirit. Second, salvation ONLY comes through the shed Blood of Jesus Christ, not a supernatural manifestation of being filled with His Spirit.
What I want to point out is that some people think that praying in tongues is ONLY praying in other known
languages that other people of the nations can understand. Yes that did take place on Pentecost (Acts 2:4-8) as they shared the Gospel in other known tongues to the nations by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, but there is a prayer language tongue that is unknown to man but known only by God. Look at vs 2 and see what it says, "For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the Spirit he speaketh mysteries."
If this speaking in tongues was a tongue that other nations could understand then it would of said "unto men", but it did not, it said "unto God". Do you see that? Very clear. I believe I will be further explaining the gift of tongues in the next few days so be ready. Be blessed with His love!
